I'm interested in buying an iSight but I am not quite $150 interested, so I am considering trying another product. My experience with my last webcam (ADS Pyro Firewire cam) was less than ideal -- when OS X came out, I had to spend $20 or so to buy a driver from IOXperts because it was not natively compatible. Afterwards, it was never reliable and often crashed programs, probably because of the driver.

I did some browsing on Amazon and a lot of the cams don't advertise mac support. I know there is a third-party usb driver project out there but I'm not sure I want to mess around with that kind of deal again. Does anyone have any experiences with alternative webcams on OS X?

cliffs: recommend a webcam for my powerbook.

honestly, if you want it to work without problems, just get the iSight. Its already supported within OSX...plus, it mounts to the screen!!!
