I want to create my own website to sell stuff. Currently I have an Ebay store and sell on some other random websites.

My plan is to have a database of products and list them for sale online. When a product sells out, I want to have some way for the customer to make a request for the product or to be on a list to be notified when the product comes back in stock.

What do you think of this idea versus when it sells out just not displaying the product in my store at all?

I basically keep a limited supply of product at a small warehouse and only a limited amount of quantity per product. It is common for me to sell out of 10-15 products a week and have a couple more in stock the next week.

Item sells out. Do I display "Sorry sold out of XYZ" or not display XYZ at all?
