Ok, my bro registerd a godaddy account for me for free. Here is my problem. I'm running apache(2 i think). When i type in my domain name www.NOTMYREALDOMAIN.com i get to my webserver fine...problem is the domain name is replaced with the address ie 192.483.21847.123. If you use godaddy...is this a problem with a setting in godaddy that he didnt do? Do i need to be running a DNS server on this machine as well? If i do recommend a free one for windows XP, i would really rather not go back to linux on this one.

btw, the ServerName is set to www.MYDOMAIN.com

    Thanks

You need to go to godaddy.com and make sure that there is a proper A record setup for www. They have this feature they use to redirect in a non-standard way, and it sounds like that is setup for your domain, and it behaves as you describe.

By the way, godaddy's tech support is good, so if you can't resolve this then call them and have them help you through it.
