What's your fav app to organize your work?

I've seen Basecamp, but it costs too much. Played with SugarCRM which is free, but it's overkill.

This isn't for a big business, I just want to manage my projects via the web so I can access it from wherever.

Just basic projects, tasklist, and client details.. don't need all the lead reporting, financial reporting, mail systems, etc etc.

When I played around with Basecamp it just seemed to be missing a few basic things.

Setup SugarCRM and playing with it now, then will try a few of the others to compare it.

Anything more than nothing is too much for this. If I was running a proper business, i'd happily fork out for a commercial product.. but this is just for me to get more organised.

That's what I use at the moment.. and it's doing the job, was just hoping for something a bit more integrated..

SugarCRM is looking very good at the moment.. been playing with it for a week now. Needs a lot of tweaking to get how you want it, and there's a few bugs out of the box.. but it does the job quite nicely considering it's free.

I like activecollab more than basecamp, it used to be open-source and ProjectPier is a fork created from the last opensource version of activecollab before the developer turned it into a closed-source programming and started charging for it.

But it is also extremely easy to acquire a copy of activecollab :hsugh:

Just installed this, playing with it now.. it's niiiice. It's exactly what i'm after. Sure it's not a full CRM, but for what I need, it pretty much hits it perfectly.. thanks!

I chopped the projects / calendar section out of the index.tpl.. So it just shows tasks. Much cleaner.

    Yeah, definitely will do that.

Other problem is, it has now contact management.. and you can't add tasks that aren't under a project.. or add projects that don't have a due date..

All things that can be gotten around, but still.

Seems there's always one solution to a problem that -looks- good, nice UI, pleasure to use, but lacking in features (Collabtive), and another that works well and does everything under the sun, but is ugly and annoying to use (Sugar)

i got sick of using sugar... too much of a pain just to do task tracking. In collab, just make a generic project, then have each 'project' actually be a tasklist.

Then when you dump out projects / calendar view, it only shows tasks + due date.

If I could add a contact list, I reckon it'd be pretty much perfect. You can add 'clients' but they're users.. need more of a standard contact directory with quick-add on the front page.

The tasks-being-stuck-in-projects thing can be gotten around like you said by adding a generic project to house them.
