    Hey Guys,

My company is intrested in getting a web analytics firm to do the numbers for our website. My question is do you guys have any recommendations? I know that some of the bigger players are Omniture, Coremetrics, Google Analytics (not outsourced), and Netratings. Have any of you heard anything about these guys or do you have any other recommendations? Specificing looking for visual overlays and segmentation stuff as well as the general stuff.

Anyway, let me know what you think, or just comment for the hell of it. Good or Bad.

Web Trends seems to be a pretty popular web analytics utility.

My old project manager swears by this software. I've never used it myself.

I think the whole difference is that you have having an independent source verifying your data for you, Urchin (google analytics) is all done by yourself. Doesn't really do much for you when you go to an advertiser and say look at all these numbers I got and when they ask how you got them, you say I figured it out myself. Very easy to skew things in your favor. Plus their servers will host the data and the processing of the data, big thing if you have over 1 million hits a week.

    not rly.

Urchin is automated, and the data is processed via log files via a cron job. All 3rd parties will use the same data to generate their stats! You can skew their results the same way (raw manipulation of log files) as you could Urchin... Except urchin costs a lot less... Then Webalizer and Analog are FREE.
