I don't usually use the search box in Finder but I was just playing with it and it seemed to act weird, hopefully someone can tell me if this is correct.

    I have a folder called "fractions" with files like "onehalf.gif", "onefifth.gif", "threefifths.gif".

I wanted to view just the files that are fifths, i.e. "ls -la *fifth*" is what I would type at the shell. However the search box does not seem to work this way. It doesn't match substrings or wildcards, just the first characters of the filename.

Surely the search box is more powerful than this? What am I overlooking?

After a little playing around, the search box (spotlight) does find "funny_cat_pictures_75.jpg" when I type "pictures" and "cat" but not when I search for "at_p". :wtf:
