After a few weeks of deliberation, we have gotten a puppy.

He is an 11 wk old Shih Tzu. The owner had just gotten him 2 weeks ago and didn't realize how much work a puppy was, and wanted him to go to a good home.

We are sooo excited. I've been reading up on training techniques. Also, my boss told me I could bring him to the office, so I will have plenty of time with him during the day. Yay!

 My favorite part is how the original owner already gave it up because she didn't know how much work a puppy is...but two newlyweds with no money or experience living together should be fine!

I'm sure love is enough to feed a puppy and take care of its needs:hsugh:. I wonder who will get it in the divorce :joshers:

She did... a lot of us said to get one knowing full well she isn't going to treat it like a child and actually treat it like a dog.

Plus I still don't understand what getting a dog has to do with her marriage.

It's the fact that she makes it seem like they are pretty tight on money but still choose to get a pet which they may not be able to afford.

my favorite part is how little you know about dogs. If youre a good breeder, a breed like a Shih Tzu should never leave the mom until 8 weeks old, with her/him being 11 weeks, he was never with a owner who gave him up, he either wasn't the first one chosen or the breeder wanted them to stay a little longer.

11 weeks minus 2 weeks = 9 weeks. 9 weeks > 8 weeks, so it's possible. You must be easily entertained if your favorite part was something that is not really common knowledge.

dogs are versatile creatures so even if deemed a horrible owner, the dog will make out fine. From these pictures and ones past, the couple looks like decent enough people that nothing terrible is going to happen. this just coming from having white trash family members that had pets and all :eek3:

thats a cute dog you guys got. btw

don't train the dog to do anything, small dogs can be trained but always revert to doing whatever they please.

I hate those dogs. So annoying.

Good luck with it tho. They are a lot of work.

haha, yes. But he likes him. Husband loves kids and animals. Plus, I'm not what you would call 'a dog person'. I like them closer to cat size, with a little more personality. Plus, we have a small place and are fairly lazy people when it comes to walks, so a Shih Tzu works great for us.

LOL...Like you're her dad or something. What you offered was advice. She made her OWN decision. Accept it and move on.

:ugh2: You always have something negative to say.

    :ugh2::ugh2:

A lot of time people get a pet to see how they would do with a kid. Its the precursor..

    At least...

This makes no sense whatsoever. Please explain.
