why would you do buy an $800 shotgun and then use it for home self defense? i'd just buy a shitty 870 and put the shortest barrel i could on it for self defense.

The 1100 came in an 18" tactical police model which was a great gun. If you wanted to modify yours for home defense, you could try and track down an 18"-20" barrel but odds are you would end up paying more for just that barrel than it would cost you to buy a Mossberg 500 or Remy 870 with 18".

save your self some time, effort and cash. and save the 1100 from a butchering. just go to a pawn shop/gun store and buy a used Remington 870, Mossberg 500, winchester 1300 or other gun intended for non-hunting purposes. i picked up a 1300 defender from a pawn shop for $175 and i don't think it had ever been fired.

if you really want to use the 1100, just get a shorter barrel for it..you dont need a folding tactical mall ninja anti zombie stock or a side saddle to carry 8 extra rounds, or a 10 round drum mag.
