looking for a pair. either in black or OD. need something that doesn't have to be too thick, just something I can layer under and is more poly than cotton, and will hold up to snow.

For rainy days I'm just wearing my snowboard pants and jacket. It's not the same set I ride in but a older thinner set. I spayed a ton of scotch guard on these. My legit set of snowboard gear have a good amount of insulation in them that affects how I can move/run for shooting.

If your really running around in the snow then get legit snow gear. If you just worried about rain then you can get something thinner and then just spray it down with scotch guard.

Some of the other guys in the squad are just running regular semi water proof pants with a bunch of scotch guard sprayed off before hand. Scotchguard works best if you spray it on at least 24 hours before run around in the wet.

I rather go this route because when you run around in the rain that usually mean mud. Which means washing. My legit showboard gear has real water proofing in it that is not good to wash too often, so I don't want to get it muddy. I only wash my snowboard gear once or twice a season as it doesn't get dirty/sweaty because I wear base layers under it. My rain gear needs to be worn and re-scotch guarded after each use.

Those will work for a light rain if you scotch guard them. Really what you want to do is go to your local sporting goods store when they have their winter clearance. Get the least expensive snowboard pants you can get. Maybe cost you $20 - $30. Take these and scotch guard them. This is the best water proof pants you can get for shooting.

Those North Face convertible pants work for me. I'm wearing them now in Alaska, with just a pair of Under Armour baselayer underneath.

    Wirelessly posted via wap.offtopic.com (megingjörd: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows 98; PalmSource/Palm-D062; Blazer/4.5) 16;320x320)

I'm a backpacker, I'm familiar with their fratboy garbage, and these pants aren't it. I'm pretty hard on my gear. In any event, get the Nik Wax wash to prolong the waterproofing on whatever you get.
