Water vs. Sports drinks during workouts

    Is there any difference? Like do you feel more energy/stamina/whatever when you take Gatorade/Powerade while working out? I usually just head to the water fountain. When I have some change with me I'll buy some Gatorade at the gym though, but only because it tastes better.

    downside to gatorade during, if concerned with your weight, is that your body uses its sugar rather than your own during the workout, so you dont gain (lose) much by drinking it.
    its good for after though, to replenish carbs

    if im bulking ill have gatorade during my lifting workouts. if just doing cardio though, stick with water.

    The only time I drink Gatorade is when I'm jogging 5+ miles other than that it's water

    you can still drink gatorade when cutting.

    limit it to half a 20oz bottle, and you still get your 15-20g carbs to give you more energy for the workout

    doesn't add too many calories to your diet either

    i drink too much liquid while lifting, the gatorade gets to be too much..i prefer water + low carb monster with me while i lift..i usually start drinkin the monster right when i get there, warm up, stretch...about 1/4 of the monster left i throw out, drink some water and get to lifting..i end up drinking about 96oz while there for 1.5 hours

    i really never understand people who drink over a gallon a day its just ridiculous. unless youre some kind of cross country runner or something youre just pissing uneccessary amounts and losing minerals

    I only drink water, I don't have the calories to spare in my diet for gatorade; somebody bigger or not always trying to lose bodyfat might though :p

    I drink at least a liter during a workout. My last workout, I drank like half a gallon because I hadn't had a lot of water that day. I then had to piss about six times in the next three hours. :o
