I like the news report, it's pretty cool plus it gives you a little bit of background on the story for those of us that didn't read the comic.

This is one good reason why the movie's rated-R.

Dying to see this movie. Seems promising of having a kind of depth most superhero movies don't have

That the "monster" has been removed from the story has been known for a while. All the people making the movie as well as all the people who have seen early screenings attest to this fact. Fortunately, the story doesn't rely on the monster, so taking it out won't necessarily make the movie bad. In fact, most (if not all) of the people who have seen the early screenings had 99.9% positive things to say about the film.

I am impartial to the monster being taken out and replaced with a 'bomb'. Just so long as we keep to the fact that millions died and it was drawn out as horrifically bloody and gory.

Dayum sick footage. I just hope I'm not hyping up the movie for myself too much to end up getting disappointed.

A good majority of the reviews out so far are very positive. Funny how IGN AU gave it 5/5 whereas IGN UK gave it 2/5.

I just finished reading the book. I really cannot describe how impressed I am. As soon as I finished though I had a feeling the ending was going to be changed for the movie. For some reason I just don't see a feature Hollywood film with that type of ending.

I almost read the spoiler online but I decided not to. I hope it doesn't change the story too much.

By the way it seems like you guys talking about the "monster" is kinda giving it away.

Yes. Pretty much everyone who is a fan of the graphic novel knows what the deal is with the "monster" in the movie. Still, knowing what is not in the movie doesn't mean you know what is in its place. But yeah, if you don't want to have it spoiled for you, avoid fan sites, reviews and the IMDb message board for Watchmen.
