I'm getting married in Ocean Shores some time in early summer, date will be set in the next couple weeks.

Any photographers willing to come out to the shores and have a portfolio to show?

It is a small town, there is 1 photographer and I know him. I just don't want the same photographer that shoots EVERY single wedding, senior pic, school dance, school pics, graduation pics, and any/everything else. Maybe something different, thought I'd give OT a try. I have seen some good looking stuff on here.

Matt doesn't really like doing weddings, Mojito would probably be your better choice

Just makes you realize how important marketing is... he does good work, but I honestly see the same quality of work from a few members on this board.

he shot my roomies wedding, but he was only 3500 back then.

love the guy though, he's been great to me and invited me to his house before. Helped him demo showit DVD etc.
but his work is just average, you're paying for the name and experience, not the photos. I love his efficency, but outsourcing the parts of the workflow that define your style is :ugh: IMO

he does 2-3 hours a wedding sorting and editing with his Showit Effects. Then he lets Pictage do the rest (I'm sure one of their best is on his account) and Albumesque does the album. He rarely if ever even sees a finished product of any kind besides his slideshows. He enjoys taking the backseat so he can do other things, but personally I find that aspect fun and its what defines your style as a photog.

He's priced himself out of even SB now though, so he can only take on so many destination weddings a year, 10-15 is what he's going for. With software and workshops, thats all he needs :hs:

I personally like becker's business model better, doing it all in house, but it is a lot more work

we hired this chick for our destination wedding, and can't f'n wait. i think she wanted $5500 or something for 7 hours. i get all of the final shots on DVD as well, so i didn't think the price was too bad.

the majority of his clients are no longer local. When he's too much for Santa Barbara that tells you something :o

Didn't even go to Brooks, though he's done some workshops there. Actually didn't finish at Westmont, started shooting weddings for free-$1000, jumps to 2000, 3500, 5000, 10,000, 13,000 and now 15k in under 4 years :eek3:

I would have done it for less probably :hs:
destinations are awesome, but hard to price fairly for each party.
