Does washing hair make it thinner?

When I wash my hair I cant style it the way I want, it just ends up falling flat even with pomade...But like today I didnt wash it and can get good styles out of it that hold without gel....wtfx?

(i generally wash everytime i shower..)

thats bc of the natural oils in your hair.

washing hair does not make your hair thinner, it just cleans out the dirt and oils so your hair tends to be more slippery, thus making it harder to style.
with this being said, i hope you wash your hair at least 5x a week :hsugh:

blow dry it after you shower. should give you more volume and help it stay up.

I wash my hair thoroughly with with running water, but I dont use shampoo very often - Ive tried heaps of different ones but they all always leave my hair in an unmanageable state. My hair doesnt smell, it doesnt look greasy.. in fact I quite frequently get comments on how good it looks :hsd:

5x a week is too much for me and you're supposed to give your hair a chance for those natural oils to build up. I very rarely wash it one day after another.

this is true :o i guess it also depends where you live. bc of the humidity/pollution/etc here my hair gets oily/limp after 1 day of not washing so i'm forced to wash it everyday if i'm not lazy :hs:

I wash every other day. It's a good balance for natural hair oils to accumulate.

    good point :)

I try to leave it to the third day if I can- maybe just washing my fringe.

Mainly because I don't have time everyday to be washing and styling my hair :hs:

I cut my own hair  maybe i'll have to get some of those thinning scissors, though it's a lot more difficult with a messed up wrist.

See this is my problem. I shower twice a day every day. I shower once in the morning before school, and once at night, around 6 or 7, after I either played sports or worked out.

I get gross from working out/playing sports, and I need the second shower, but if I sleep and then don't shower in the morning (even if I totally dried my hair) my hair looks all messy.

In this situation would it be best to shampoo when I shower at night, and in the mornings just rinse my hair?

Right now I shampoo twice a day, and use conditioner about 3 times a week (mon-wed-friday)

i have to wash my hair every day....it gets very oily very quickly. but im a chick, so i don't really style it that often. i just blow dry and leave it down. or if im lazy i'll throw it up in a really high ponytail. although i have heard from hairstylists that it's better not to wash it every day. it'll dry your hair out.

See I've read/heard that washing it every day drys your hair out and thus makes it even more oily because your body notices it is too dry and it then it overproduces the natural oils.
