I didn't ask in the other thread because it was a day after it happened and it wasn't appropriate apparently. It's been about a month so I'm wondering if someone can shed some light on it?

I would put money on hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or an abnormality in his coronary vessels at the left main coronary artery.

Did they know he had an enlarged heart early?

And whats with all these athletes recently having enlarged hearts? Seems fishy that so many have the same problem. Is it possible that doing what he does, training/fill_in_the_blank, causes hearts to grow to abnormal size?

Just trying to figure out if this is truly a birth defect thing, or if it was acquired during life.

lance armstrong has an enlarged heart. they say thats why he's so good at cycling :dunno:

something to do with endurance and blood pressure... but I'm no authority on the subject, just what I've read.

I think enlarged hearts arent a big problem until you start get a lot of valve overlap, and the heart gets "sloppy"
