When I say warm, I mean pretty darn warm... and humid as hell.

Just so you get a sense of the weather over there:

I am moving to a different country for work, and this is what I'm getting myself into for the next couple of years. :hsd: I would appreciate any help at this point.

I wanted to get a sense of what kinda clothes expats wear over there, but after talking to them, I got the sense that most of the expats either dress really poorly (the good old poorly-dressed American stereotype) or dress waaay too formal (very few do this, and it's usually the expats who have just moved there).

I am not sure what clothes to take with me, or if I should buy new clothes (or if I should buy them here, or buy them when I move over there). FFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

    Help please. :sadwavey:

P.S. It's my first time in the Style Lab. Hi. :wiggle:

I'd walk around naked if that's all I were concerned about. I asked for help because I thought maybe some people here might have lived/worked in a climate like where I'm going, and they might have some suggestions.

The best advice I got is from a German couple who lives there; they told me to only bring clothes that are 100% cotton. Anything synthetic is a no-no according to them.

It's been pretty sweltering here in Lawrence for the past few days.
For some reason I have committed to my denim + a nice tshirt, usually v-neck for comfort. I'm not a very sweaty person though - so the jeans thing is a bit different.

The only people who will give you shit for wearing shorts or sandals in a hot climate are geeks on internet message boards

    Wear them with aplomb

I like the more dressy shorts that stops around my knee. You won't see me running around in some "skater shorts". You can always ask Jacy what to expect, since she lives/lived in Germany.

Where in Germany are you relocating to? The only part that gets that hot might be in bavaria, but my boyfriend is doubtful...

Like your friends have said, stay away from synthetic materials, because man-made materials trap heat and moisture. Instead, go for fabrics that wick away moisture.. you can google that.

Buy all your clothes in the US before you move here, because it'll be much cheaper.
