Gaunt's Ghosts are pretty good. I read the first 2 Space Wolf novels, they're okay.

i read farseer (it was the only eldar novel at the time). it's got some action, but it's fairly slow, and deals little with the eldar, actually.

Gaunts Ghost novels (start with first and only)
Eye of Terror was really good.
Into the maelstrom was also a good collection of short stories.
