You ask why the media hasn't picked up on it, but then post links from media sources...

    That's true.
Neither the television stations nor the New York Times have even touched the subject. From the reactions you get when you tell people what's happening, you would expect this to be the media's new punching bag, but the only attention it's gotten is from one or two local papers and a handful of online news sources.

I think that this thread can end up being good discussion and I think it will affect all of us freaky people. Let's leave it open for now and see if some good discussion can come from it.

It doesn't matter...if it's illegal people will still find a way to get it.
I can see it now, ordering 'toys' from Canada or overseas somewhere. It won't matter.

i'd say teh media probably hasn't picked up on it all that much for a couple of reasons. For one, i don't think most people expect much to come out of it. although it is interesting that one site got shut down. Having never been there though, and only seen that article, i don't really know. There are still tons of porn sites up though, and nothing that i go to has been shut down.

The other thing, although porn is a huge industry, it's still kind of a hush hush thing. People don't really talk about porn in general.

Personally, i'm not too worried though.

Also, if you are worrieda bout it, try to get the laws changed or complain about the laws. The attorney general (appointed by, although not necessarily directed by personally on every issue every day) and the FBI can only enforce laws, they can't make up new laws or just arbitrarily prosecute people.

well, literotica is still up and running... but they have a section that is one of the ones thats causing controversy. They have a non-human section which I'm pretty sure has some animal stories in it... but I'm not sure. If they find that, then we can kiss lit goodbye.

And the only other thing I have to say is FUCK YOU BUSH. I'm glad I didn't vote for your pathetic, idiotic, redneck, bible-humping ass. Burn in hell.

    BrokenHalo......

Those above two comments made me laugh. Bush is a bible humper...but you told him to "Burn in Hell" and called for "Jesus" in the last :)

Please don't take this as mean, but it is funny, in the Pun sense of humor!

Amazing (read: depressing) how civil liberties (freedom of speech/expression) are curbed because what you or I think/read/see/write offends another person's sensibilities. Democracy: Tyranny of the majority

I wouldnt have a problem if the laws truely reflected the majority, but honestly, can we really say the majority of americans really give two shits about, say for example, whats in the "non-human" section of literotica? I dont think they would. this is a minority of people with opinions which represent a minority of the people of this country making descisions for all of the country. something is wrong here.

I understand what they are trying to do. They believe that by cutting down on the material that is out there on this subject, you cut down on the amount of people exposed to it. if you do that, you will cut down on the number of incidents where such acts are take to a violent extreme. The problem is they are doing the equivalent of eliminating only the symptoms of a patient. If a patient is in pain, it doesnt do them a bit of good to pump them full of morphine. you do the patient, and yourself, a favor if you find what causes the pain and eliminate it.

what Im saying, is that if thier goal ("they" being those who enacted this law) is to cut down on sexual related crimes, they should really focus on preventing the circumstances that cause the ways of thinking which is responsible for these crimes(i.e. help change the way our society views sex, provide counseling for those who are offenders... good counseling, etc)

I love how they're shutting down internet porn sites. To the best of my knowledge, the only way you see/read porn is if you search for it.

This is what happens when 1/2 of the american population vote. Then the people that dont vote bitch about what happens, if you didnt vote then you dont have a dog in the hunt. If we werent so apathetic and cared at least a little when we are electing goverment officals the american government would be in a whole different situation. Though sometimes it is picking one of the lesser evils.

What Bush intends to accomplish by sicking the FBI on erotica, I do not fathom. I also don't think that the people who voted for Bush don't jerk off. However, what's happened has happened. Now it's time to wait and see if the shit hits the fan. Or maybe we should be throwing the shit? :)

what I also think is funny is that the few articles that Ive read on this matter, all have mentioned the fact that so few agents are willing to do this work at all. They all laugh at it at the water coolers. basically, its understood that their energies and skills are best put to other uses than trying to find porn on the Internet that might be damaging to the minors.

Because, lemme tell ya, theres nothing more damaging to a child's psyche than seeing a woman and a horse together. seriously. Its a proven fact that it does WAY more 1337 damage than, say, a loaded gun AK-47 in an unlocked closet of the household ever could:rolleyes:.

But, hey, we can afford to spend funds on this. its not like we had a hurricane of cataclysmic proportions rip through one of the cultural epicenters of the south, or that we have a war that we started halfway around the world that still needs to be cleaned up. I mean... come on, we can afford to tackle this... right??
