it does kinda look like it..
it's more like hl2 striders = war of the world
I didn't read the books, but apparently there were no striders. The film was adapted from the books, and a lot of things were changed. I'm not going to argue whether or not the striders were stolen from half life 2, but they were almost certainly created recently for the film.
Oh. Then my friend is a liar.
How vivid is the discription of them? Because i was thinking the same thing.
Right, nevermind. I remember what he told me. He said they didn't shoot lasers.
That's more of a microwave beam, but close enough. I should probably just read the book myself :/
WHat date was the book set in?
I had a HL2 flashback when the projector guy's radio went off before the movie. It sounded just like their radios on HL2. My gf called me a nerd
Late 19th Century, pretty much around the same time it was written.
war of the world like monsters came before hl2 striders
true story, i remember
They said they based alot of stuff off that book.
i thought the = sign means = both ways..
its common in sci-fi video games to make references to past sci-fi works. for example, in Starcraft, several of the things the dropship says are taken word for word from Aliens. Also in Aliens, the android states that "he can not harm a human, or by inaction allow a human to come to harm," which is the first law of robotics in Isaac Asimov's IRobot books.
I guess its for nostalgia or something, but its pretty common.
Moving to movie forums
