What legal paperwork do I need to do? Or is a bill of sale all sufficient? (this is for a friend living in TX btw)

In texas I think it's legal to do a private sale. No paperwork needed.

Yea in TN private gun sales - including pistols - need no paperwork since no guns are registered. All you gotta do is exchange the money for the firearm. Just like selling a CPU to someone, if that makes you understand it more :big grin:

I'm sure TX is the same.

~edit As long is not reported stolen (mainly handguns) (and you don't want to buy a stolen handgun) - and It's easy to check for that, you can run the serial # through your Department of Safety to check before you buy.. (and if it is stolen they won't wait around for you to get the serial # and check :big grin:)

If you are just selling it to your friend - give him the rifle and collect the money. (unless you stole it :squint: )
