    As title says. But I have no clue on any of this. I never did this before. I was wondering what type of hardware should I be buying?

    I do not want to look at spending over $1000 for the thing, I heard you can build a good one for less than that as well. I want a gaming computer, not really for anything else. Browsing OT of course and other sites. But mostly gaming.

    Can anyone recommend me a system? All the parts and whatnot? :x:

    thanks in advance... :wavey:

    Building a PC for Dummies > *. Yeah, a system can be built for >$1000, but I have yet to see a good gaming one. Maybe an ECS motherboard to start you off...

    NO WAY! DO NOT GET AN ECS MOTHERBOARD!

    Yes you can build a machine for under $1000. Yes you can have a gaming rig for under $1000. Not gonna be the greatest, but it will play every game out today.

    i think you could build a pretty sweet one for just about a grand if you don't need a monitor

    maybe with somethin like this.. http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=80699-2-241143
    AMD64 3000+ with the Neo2 Platinum, $295
    http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=320744
    ATI Radeon 9800 AIW, $250 ->550
    http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=80098-21
    a gig of corsair PC3200, $142 ->700
    http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=270519
    Sparkle 400watt(might need a little more power, im not sure), $70 ->770
    http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=101559
    Seagate 7200.7 SATA w/NCQ 160gb, $109 ->879
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=27-106-962&depa=1
    Lite-On dual layer DVD burner, $70 ->949
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=27-131-119&depa=0
    Lite-On DVD-ROM, $30 ->979

    adds up to about $980, w/case and cables it will be over a grand, but you can skimp on some things particularly the video card and maybe scrap one of the optical drives if you dont burn too much
    ah yes and i left out a sound card, add $40 for the turtle beach santa cruz and it will be $1020
    you also should get a floppy, $10-$15 more
    well its a basic idea, maybe someone else can contribute
