    looking for..

    2000-2004
    Dodge Dakota
    4.7 V8
    5 Speed manuel
    Single cab
    2WD

color and such are no big deal, just has to have all the above and i perfer unmodded, but id still consider one if it was.

a 97-99 with lower miles would be considerd, too.

i used to have this truck but it had 180,000+ miles and i had to let it go, now i miss it and i want another, and it has to be a 5 speed so, single cab R/T's need not apply, but thanx tho. i know these exist but the problem is just finding one? also im located in Northern California..

if you guys see one or know of one plz let me know.

    thanks [IMG]

I'm in the same boat. Been looking for awhile with no luck. I had an '03 Ram 1500 with a 4.7 and 5-speed manual tranny, with 4.10 gears. I miss it alot.

if you would go with 4x4 there's a lot up in s.oregon... But 2wd is hard to find. Most people go with the chevys for 2wd.

4x4 defeats the purpose, becasue i want it for performance, and chevy doesnt offer a mid size with a V8.

but ya... ill find one someday.. :o

S10 V8 swap is popular. And will kill a dakota.

Why whould you want a 5-speed mexican for a tranny? I had that exact setup in a 2001, but I gutted it and turned it into a race truck. I'm sure you know, but the 4.7 was released in 2000 as i"m sure you're aware, so that would rule out your 97-99 option, unless toy want a 5.2.

    my old truck was a 5.2 ^

i dont want a 5.2 agian id rather have the 4.7, they sound better IMO :o.. and mexicans are the best trannys out there so ya. what did you gut? i mean there really isnt anything to take out of it, maybe cut the bed out? or take out the dash? i just wanna beable to carry my guitar gear and still be able to wip doughnuts and drift when ever i want to.

too much work, if i was gonna do that id just fix up my 67 charger... and the dakotas dont weigh much more then s-10's so how would it kill a dakota?:ugh2:

.. V8 s dimes are cool but im looking for a newer daily driver with low miles...:o

Dakotas don't weigh much more, but their 4.7L motors don't make too much power over the V6. Drop a 350cc V8 into the s-dime and you've got some serious power. Heck, make it a 383cc stroker, why not. It's a lot of work, but as long as you do something to beef up the tranny, then these are VERY reliable rigs. Cost is not too bad. If you got a hookup on the motor, then the swap is down-right cheap.

I guess if I needed a DD, then I wouldn't be too concerned about the power aspect. The V6 s-dime has plenty for daily driving.

Good luck. Buddy of mine looked at the exact truck you're looking for yesterday, but it was a salvaged titled, POS.

the 4.7 doesnt have very much power true, but they do start life with 300 torque which makes up the differance, especially if you have a 5 speed. seeing as tho the first gear is 4.03 to 1 ... with my near stock 5.2 (linked above) i could hang with z28's and gt's off the line no problem..its that drastic change from 4.03 (1st) to 2.33 (2nd) that hurt me alil and when i got high into 3rd they would walk from me becasue i didnt have the power to back up my torque, but..

the thing is, im not looking for a street demon, i want a V8 maily becasue i like the sound and easilly accessable power. i dont plan on racing it, i plan on drifting it like i was doing with my last truck, and drifting is not a horsepower sport nor is it a weight sport.. its all about control. bone stock(powerwize, but with suspention mods) that truck could drift like theres no tomarrow.. and thats honestly what i like to do, amungst other things like reverse 180s, doughnuts, 360s and so forth. im more into stunt driving then racing :dunno:

id just get a mustang or something if i didnt need to haul my guitar gear around, but i do, and i kinda like having a truck.. :o

nice.. but honestly there really isnt much to gut on a truck? gut the bed bumper and tailgate, the inner front fender wells? .. uselly when you gut a car you strip the interior out and such.. but since these dont have much of an interior, you kinda need most of whats in there.

but whatever, i guess that is pretty well gutted for a single cab truck.. got any pix of the whole truck?

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I was thinking it was damn ugly. Of course I bet it's functional, and for that type of rig, that's really all that matters.

oh, i'll agree that the ass end isn't anything to marvel at, but I love the hood/frontfender combo... it looks like it's about to pounce or something. very sexy.
