Sup guys, I've been discovering a lot more of the rock/reggae bands out there and I really dig the sound, looking for more that you guys know of

kinda stuff I been listening to:

    Sublime
    311
    The Supervillians
Passafire (wow, just wow, incredible band)
tiny tiny bit of slightly stoopid (not a big fan)
    Pepper
slight bit of exposure to The Expendables
Bob Marley is always classic, but I tend to dig a little more lively upbeat tunes.

If you like this kinda music and haven't heared Passafire, you owe it to yourself to check em out, they opened for Pepper, and they absolutely made Pepper look like garbage musically. Granted, Pepper isn't the most talented band by a long shot, but they do have some great tunes! (Simplicity can be a good thing!)

edit: not adverse to moving towards the ska spectrum

Check out the old skinhead reggae like Desmond Dekkar, The Pioneers, The Specials, Laurel Aitken...

Check those guys out on Youtube, and if it appeals to you, let me know. I love that shit, and I've got a hundred more.

just saw a local band at the bar last night....you've GOT to check them out. the band is called "Fat Daddy Has Been" CHECK THEM OUT!!

It was honestly one of the sickest shows I've ever seen. They've got such a unique style. I just bought all 3 of their albums on iTunes this morning, and I haven't purchased a CD in 5-6 years I'd say.

IFL. I have too much reggae/roots/dub/dancehall/ska/etc... in my head to choose. Here goes some.

    Max Romeo
    Buju Banton
    Pato Banton
    Dennis Brown
    Damian, Stephen, and Ziggy marley
    The Pliars
    Turbulence

You seem to be asking form more ska-punk like sublime, though, which is something I'm in the process of discovering as well (aside from slightly stoopid, I didn't know this genre took off until college)

OP, can you post some specific songs that you like the sound of so I have a better idea of what exactly you're looking for. Defining reggae is like defining rock and roll.

Can people suggest some good 90's Reggae music to listen/dance to? I'm trying to compile some songs for a playlist for a wedding.

The groom and the bride will be filtering all suggestions so why not try to throw everything against the wall? :o

Not 90's but I love this song and if you dont want to dance to it you should check your pulse.

it goes without saying, these videos are boardline NWS.

  16. This reggae boogie has got a great tempo to it. It's "Beat down
    Babylon" by the Strawberry Blondes.

It's kind of a good combination of rock and reggae.
