I'd like to have RSS feeds on my computer (Firefox, XP) but know very little about them.

I have some feeds with are auto-posted on my vBulletin forum, but that was just a case of entering the .xml feed link into the AdminCP, so was pretty self explanatory.

Ideally I'd like for the reader to show news items on certain keywords I choose, but don't even know if this is possible.

After some advice on where to start really.

    Thanks!

This probably won't answer your question, but here goes.

I use a program called GreatNews for my rss feeds. I copied the RSS feed link from my favorite blogs, etc into the reader. When the sites update with new content, it shows up in the reader. There are tons of other programs, including Google Reader.
