Ive read alot of the tutorials and stuff on AR15.com, but I simply dont have the time to go digging for the best parts at the best prices, etc. I work 12-15 hours a day, 6-7 days a week in an underground facility with tons of computers, but no internet or cellphone access.. :o

Recommend parts to me... I want a top notch rifle, but I dont wanna blow a whole shitload on it.. $1000 would be nice, $1500 would be pushing my limit. I have put this off simply because I couldnt get all the stuff I wanted, mostly a folder/telescopic stock. now that this stuff is widely available and cheap, I have a renewed intrest in this. I'd just buy a fully assembled bushmaster or somthing, but I have the time, tools, and space to assemble it myself while at work.

    thx in advance...

If this is your first, buy a complete rifle from Bushmaster, RRA or Armalite.

Get an A3 upper. Cap it off with an Aimpoint.

Because if your rifle won't run you have nobody but yourself to send it back to.

I see a lot of rifles die in classes. I would say 80% of the ones that don't make it through the first day are rifles someone built at home. Do all home built rifles suck? Of course not. But many of them do.

My advice is still that you buy your first rifle from Bushmaster, RRA or Armalite. Build your second through 219th if you want but buy your first.

If you have that kind of money to spend why even build one? You can get a hell of a rifle for $1000-$1500.

Any quality lower (bushmaster is good, consistent choice)

    LMT upper

Colt or LMT bolt carrier group (if you get the LMT enhanced bolt get just the bolt and a standard carrier)

    =

    Win

Just have one custom built for you. You can get out of it much cheaper and with better parts. Just make sure that whoever builds it for you has lots of experience and knows what they are doing.
