“We worked together before, we worked together for the Keith Jardine fight. We’re great friends, I think we just have different ideas on what a training schedule should be. People have brought it up before. There’s the ‘Brazilian time’ and I don’t have time for ‘Brazilian time.’ I train 28 of the best athletes in the world here in Las Vegas. We had a few conflicts at the beginning of camp and I decided it was best if he got a different trainer and I moved on to some other guys.”

–Xtreme Couture trainer Shawn Tompkins reveals that Wanderlei Silva was inconsistent in his training times and that the difficulty of trying to find a cohesive schedule led to his departure as “The Axe Murderer’s” trainer for the upcoming main event bewteen Wandy and Rich Franklin at UFC 99 on June 13. Tompkins also mentions that it’s been brought up before. Could Silva’s recent shortcomings inside the cage be blamed on an inconsistent training schedule? Or does Tompkins need a refresher course in ‘Brazilian Time?’ I think we might get our answer on June 13.

    Brazilian time certainly exists.

Tues/Thurs classes at my academy start anywhere from 7:45-8:45 and get done anywhere from 9:00-10:15. It's always 2 hour classes - just happens to start/finish at different times.

Every time Gustavo (guy over my instructors) comes down for a seminar or something, he's always at least a half hour later.

"Oh, i couldn't find it champ" is the excuse. He's been there like 50 times, and has a GPS.

We are familiar with PST in my neck of the woods... Persian Standard Time. All my Persian buddies acknowledge it too.

you know... there's something about fobby asian chicks in general that annoy the fuck out of me. i think it's that they always have to make this weird whiney noise in reaction to every little thing. being around a group of them sounds like a fucking motorcycle race or something

It's because American culture has enstilled in us that we have to work x amount of hours on x day and if we're x late we get disciplined. It's not like this in other cultures. :hs:
