    Better in 9mm or .40?

I saw them in Dallas this weekend for $479 and almost brought one home. Only deal was they only had black, and i want the OD frame. But i'm going back in a bout a week, and may check back with them...if they have it i want you guys' opinions.

I didn't like my P99 in .40sw. It had a pretty mean recoil and had to go back
to the manufacturer to fix a defective magazine catch spring.

For the money I much prefer my refurb' Sig226 in 40.

I hear 9mm P99 is pretty nice though.

I had one in 9mm and it was a great gun. Now I want one again.

With modern bullets as good as they are, I see no reason to own a .40 :dunno:

9mm. Anything bigger is too much. Very snappy.

I've got both, black 9mm and 2tone 1st gen .40. If its your first handgun go 9mm like the others said the .40 out of it is a bit snappier then most comparative .40's

This would be my first semi auto pistol...bigger than a .22. I do have a S&W .357 mag though.

I originally was just going to get a Glock 19, and i still want one, but i am having a hard time finding a deal on the glock...and $479 seems like an awesome price for the P99, which i also want because i love the way it feels in hand.

Also, i didn't realize there were different trigger types on the P99. What is the difference in the QA and AS trigger? Lastly, is the P99 uncomfortable to conceal IWB? I guess i need to compare the P99 and G19 dimensions on that one.

Not to sound like a broken record, like other WMDers on this issue, but why not a S&W M&P?
You can get them cheaper than $479, plus they have a $50 rebate AND 2 free mags going right now.

How much longer is that for? And what is a good deal on the M&P?

Jan 30th is the end of that promotion.

I don't know what their prices are right now, but www.budsgunshop.com usually has them going for $439 shipped.

AS is DA/SA, QA is quick action similar to glock triggers. Up until I got my G29 P99 had been my daily carry for a few years, conceals easy enough not sure how it stacks up dimesion wise to the G19. P99 has the best feel in my hand of anything else I've shot fits in my hand like a glove. Price is good I paid $515 for my 9mm, don't recall without looking it up what I paid for my .40 but I think it was a bit more. My only gripes with Walther is mag's are a bit pricey about $35 a pop, and they only make it in 9 and .40.
Is it the full size or compact? If its the Compact CDNN use to have them for less.

It was full size 9mm in all black, brand new...i thought to start with it had to be used. Gander here in town has them used for $650, so i was amazed.

I was doing some looking and the mags are like double what a glock mag costs. Plus i didn't see an MTAC for it...which holster did/do you use? ANd have you ever shot the M&P?

Gander sucks... don't ever buy a handgun from them. Shottys and rifles, I guess they're OKAY.

They should have MTAC's for it, my newest p99 holster is a ctac, I'm wanting to get a higher end all leather iwb though. $33 is about the cheapest I've paid for a high cap factory mag they got some cheaper aftermarkets but I've never tried any of those. Haven't shot an M&P just held one in the shop.

I bet if you were to buy that gun and call up Comp-Tac and talk to them about it... they'd make one for you.
They're seriously that easy to work with.

Did some calling around, cheapest i can find the M&P 9 is $549 at the local Gander of all places. Bass Pro...which is who has the P99, wants $579 for it.

I guess after the rebate and with 2 extra mags that still isnt a bad price, but i still can't help but be enticed by that P99 price...and also i wonder why it is so cheap?

Between the m&p and p99 I'd get the p99 personally.

    I have
[IMG] and love them. If you like a TDA trigger they're one of the best guns out there I think

Oh wait, I did. I do like Walthers though... and now that they've "merged", you can't really go wrong with either of them.
Oh, and I really like the new PPS. Not very high capacity, but very concealable.
