Well, which one and why? I was originally leaning towards the glock, I've shot a 17, 19, and 23. Today, however, I discovered the walther and while I haven't shot it, I really liked the way it felt in my hand. I will be getting this just to shoot at the range right now, but I'm considering gettig a CHL, so I would like to be able to carry it too. Discuss.

Having owned a G17 and currently owning 2 P99's, I would pick the Walther, fits my hand like a glove, and shoots great only downside to the Walther IMO is mag prices $20 vs. $35ish.

If you can try to shoot both see which you like better.

That's my objective this weekend, but I have to find a range around here where they'll let you rent guns. I too was impressed with the way it fit my hand. I've done a lot of research on the glocks, but never really considered a walther, so I don't know too much about them.

they both do the same job, and they both are reliable... get the one that suits your hand and point.

but ide lean towards the P99 myself, damn thats a sexy pistol!

EDIT: careful of the S&W copy tho, ive heard they are not as well built as the Genuine Walthers and thus have a few reliability issues

I've had the .40 P99 for several years, it had been my carry gun up untill this past summer when I switched over to the G29. Picked up the 9mm P99 early last summer, Niether Walther has ever given me any problems, feed any ammo I've wanted to shoot through them.

I prefer a traditional double action trigger on the walther where I get a double action shot first then single action on following shots. They're both very reliable well finished guns. Mags for the walther are a little cheaper (about $28) if you buy them for a s&w99.

The glock will be easier to find all sorts of toys and gadgets and hundreds of holsters for. Most quality holster manufacturers do make one for the p99 though. Personally I chose the p99.

aren't all the new ones a walther/s&w combination now or not?

That's something else I am concerned about. I know there's a huge aftermarket for glocks, but I haven't seen as much for the walthers.

How does the muzzle flip compare between the two?

Between the 17 and 9mm P99? Nothing notable between the two really.
Between the .40 and 9 P99's? You know when your shooting the .40 but nothing extreme.

yeah, I just meant between the two 9mm. I think I'm going to stick with the 9 because the ammo is a bit cheaper.

P99 fits my hand a lot better than glocks, no problems out of mine yet.
