I'm fairly enamored with the P22, I'm looking for something to take to the range as well as something to keep locked in the closet in case of emergency. I've used my dad's Glock 9mm a few times and I like it, but I want to keep the ammo cheap as well.

Does anyone have any experience with the P22? I am looking to buy one with the 3.4" barrel, then buy a 5" barrel for range use as soon as I can afford it. I'm thinking somewhere in the $230 range for the 3.4 inch monotone, sound about right?

Yes I realize the caliber would be inssufficient for home defense, but I'm a strong believer of any gun is better than no gun, and I don't want to buy something with stopping power and just leave it sitting in the closet at home because the ammo is too expensive for range play. Shit I'd just buy a pump shotty for defense, but I don't have a good place to put it.

you ought to consider a 9mm the ammo is cheap $11 for 100rds and with a hollowpoint will have stopping power

I've heard good and bad. Seems like if you are willing to maybe put a little extra into it they make an awesome blaster. I personally really like Ruger 22/45s.

They are extremely picky about the ammo you feed them. They usually won't run 100% with the cheap stuff ie Federal bulk pack. Even with some of the higher end ammo most people still have a jam every now and then. Just got the suppressor for my P22.

Man thats nice that yours feeds everything, you wanna trade? lol, seriously though I had sent it back to S&W and I think it actually jams more now. I think a lot of people are having great luck with their P22. I had figured my problems would have worked themselves out with the suppressor, but I was wrong. Oh well still a nice gun to have, just wouldn't carry it.
