  2. Saw this earlier today. This will go absolutely nowhere. The loons from the Seattle area will all get erections about this, but the rest of the state won't have any of it. It stands no chance.

No, they just envisioned owning weapons on par with what the military has. Machine guns and grenades for all!

I've never really researched this kind of stuff before or follow politics. So I'm just kind of curious how they think banning something is going to fix something.

I mean, doesn't Chicago have a pretty strict gun law except they're still up there in most murders by a gun? I don't know...like I said, I'm not that educated on this stuff. So I'm curious how bans actually help anywhere.

The Kel-tec SU-16 used to kill the Seattle LEO wouldn't be covered under this ban if they are mimicing the 1994 AWB

    Stupid fuckers.

its not about "solving crime" or "preventing murder". they use reasons like that so that retards without a brain will think "oh yeah, i like less murder, i'll vote for that!"

no shit. i like less murder too but legislation like this isnt the solution. laws like this are only instituted to prevent people from owning guns. period. there is no empirical data that shows gun control stops crime.

  12. It has nothing to do with reducing crime or saving lives. It is, and always has been, about their fear of something they don't understand. Guns are a mystery to most people, and it's only natural that people fear that they don't understand. Given that guns have the ability to cause a lot of damage when they're used by someone irresponsible or criminal it's not a stretch to see why people that don't understand them don't want others to possess them. It may be a bit trite, but gun control isn't about guns, it's about control.

Ok cool. I see where ya'll coming from.

Like I've always said, "Guns don't kill people, its the person using the gun kill people."

    exactly right.

silly as it sounds you can set a loaded gun down on a table with the safety off and it will never fire. it's an inanimate object.

now, give that same inanimate object to a CONSCIOUS person and they'll use it for good or evil.

much the same way people use cars for good or evil, or knives, etc. it has nothing to do with the GUN but everything to do with the PERSON.

  19. In the WA forum on Barfcom someone was listing things that weren't around when the constitution was written. This was their list:

    Printing press
    Radio
    Television
    Internet

:hsugh: Hmm... which of those items doesn't belong?

well, true, the printing press, strictly speaking, doesn't belong there. But a modern, mechanized printing press capable of hundreds of pages (double-sided) per minute, was probably a little beyond their immediate thoughts.

Which in no way means that it isn't protected by the First Amendment.
Just like semi-automatic, fully automatic, or anything else is still protected by the Second, even though the Framers may not have envisioned it personally.
It's a disingenuous argument at best.
