I was going to shoot seismic a PM but thought I would post it up here to and offer it up to any local OT'ers.

My USPSA match I am hosting will be "next" Sunday, Aug 23 at the Renton Fish and Game Club.

I will be offering a new shooters safety orientation/intro the Saturday before at the range. Before I post this anywhere else I'm offering OT'ers first dibs. If you are interested in getting started in competitive shooting shoot me a PM or post here.

Get off the couch and put your excuses aside and let's go shoot. My club hosts the the highest attended matches in WA state, the top shooters in the state shoot at my club and we put on some pretty challenging/new stages. You will learn a lot shooting here, guaranteed.

  2. This isn't the same thing as the one that's going on the next week is it? Do you need any help setting stuff up?

Hell yeah, come through MG. I'll see you there. I'll open up an action bay for us to "practice" at. :)

WTF, why is everyone around here gay and shitty :wtc:

  6. How did you know that would be my next question?

Oh, and what time do you want me there to help set up?

  7. There are more than a few seattle area shooters on here. You guys really will have a ton of fun doing this. What kind of equipment do they need to bring? Just gun/holster/ammo/eyes/ears?

Typically a hoslter that covers the trigger guard, a good belt, 4-5 magazines and pouches to hold at least all but one of them, eyes, ears, ammo and a safety conscious mind.

  11. Well, yes, I know what's required for competition shooting, I was just curious what gear people would need for this. I doubt most people who are interested in getting into competition shooting already have everything.

a gun, a holster, some mags and some boolits.

    and eyes and ears.

the only thing on the list that most shooter might not have is enough mag pouches and/or enough mags

Hell, if you don't, I'll lend you a pistol and gear to shoot, you just have to use factory ammo and make sure you get it back to me.

  16. His wording wasn't crystal clear, but I believe this is on the 22nd.

Yeah, the Safety check is on the 22nd, but the match you are checking for is the following day, the 23rd.

What does a safety check entail?

Also, 4 mags enough? How much ammo required?

  19. The safety check/ intro thing is the thing you told me I could bring my rifle to though, not the match itself, right?

A safety check is basically a quick intro of USPSA, what is expected, equipment check, and a live fire competency check of some basic skills like reloads and shooting on the move. It is required in order to compete in USPSA. I can also go over some dry fire/live fire drills I think really help get your USPSA game up.

But since we are all friends it'll be a little more lax and I'll open up a bay for us to practice, etc for us only.

And yeah MG, you can bring your Rifle on Saturday. We still aren't shooting rifles at my matches. unless you can think of a side stage and help set it up. :)

  21. I'll try to think of a side stage. I'll assume that it probably would be too late this month to get the word out for people to bring their rifles, but maybe next month? I really wish there was more room at Renton, or they had a bay like bay 1 in Marysville.

    Interesting.

  24. It's usually just a side stage, not a whole match. Last year we did do a whole rimfire match. It was a shitload of fun, but only 12 people turned out.
