So I got a good 45min behind the wheel of a New GTI GOLF V with DSG. I have driven BMW’s SMG M3 and By far the DSG is a much better system. It’s quick, smooth and never gave me a hick up. In auto mod if feels like a very smooth automatic. Also the GTI is no pig the way that the power goes down with the DSG it pulls out of corners very fast. It’s a complete joy to drive. I’m really impressed. The on paper it’s not a awesome car but after you drive it you will change your mind. I hope Porsche will be offering it soon instead of the gay trip auto.

Plus my understanding is a few Euro mags say it gets 35MPG on the highway:bowdown:

I need to try the GTi with DSG.

Tested the normal 6-speed manual version a few months back and absolutely loved it. So much power and torque.

Without a total redesign, the SMG will never be as fast or as smooth as the DSG..

The design of the DSG is just faster because it can preselect the next gear long before you shift, and just has to disengage one clutch and engage another. Very amazing little transmission!

Test drove a GTI with DSG as well I was very impressed. There is not way I would buy that car without DSG. Now only if Audi will come out with a RS4 with DSG and under $50K while I am dreaming...
