i still need to get my hands on some lifting shoes to try for a squat session. I like squatting in my wrestling shoes but I squat fairly close (comparitively speaking) so I'm curious to see if they would benefit me at all.

adidas will no doubt release a new lifting shoe in the coming year.. the older adidstars will go down in price..

i got the ironwork II's and i like them but if i keep lifting i will buy the next ones they release as i unfortunately took a chunk out of these walking into a sharp object that was sticking out of the ghetto platforms at the gym :wtc:

i had the VS ones for about 2 years, but the version without the velcro straps, they are a solid shoe but the vamp (upper portion of the shoe, not the sole) is basically just made of leather with no support for the front of your foot or the heel so your foot can start to shift around on the sole after the shoes break in

it basically just doesn't have great stability side to side as your foot can shift around, especially under a heavy load

if you can afford it, i would go with an adidas shoe that has a heel counter and more solidly constructed vamp, the VS, Do Win, and Werkisan shoes all have poor stability up top

edit: i asked glenn pendlay at wichita specifically if the do win or werkisan have a heel counter and he told me they dont, as much as i'd like to send some money his way, the shoe is just not of the same quality as the adidas

dunno, the adistar is very stable, and i think the ironwork is the precursor to the adistar so it most likely shares the same features

LOL!! I used to wear a pair of safe squat shoes. They are good if you are a quad dominant squatter.
