vortec Max

    i checked out the vortec max on the silverado's and they seem nice like the towing and horsepower. anybody know anything from personal experience good buy or not?

    kinda spendy, but if you need the extra torque then buy it. For average user, the 5.3L is awsome.

    Good engines. If you go to look at the 07 Silverado make sure to get the new "G80"(or g85) locking rear diff, it's an electronic diff that locks in nearly 100% and won't allow the other wheel to spin unlike a "limited slip" diff.

    Unless they changed it, the G80 has been a RPO for *years*... And it's not electronic. It's automatic, but not an e-locker.

    The diff is mechanical, I had thought it was electronic. From what I read they're advertising it as an all-new unit, so it's probably just been improved and being called new.

    You can't go wrong with the vortec motors, my dad has over 275k on his silverado and it runs great.
