I am using XP as my Host and 98 as my guest. I need to install a printer and the host computer is using the printer across the network via file/print sharing. Printer works on the host computer but on the guest computer when I go to add the printer it should pull the drivers over but its not its asking for a disk. How come

vmware; esx, vm player, workstation, esxi, server, whatever... it's a hypervisor so the guests running on the host are unaware of the host. the guests won't share libraries or drivers with the host it's running on like other virtualization methods, i.e domains or zones.

so if you need drivers within a guest, you will have to update that guest or the gold image it's running off of.
