Thru it up on CentOS machine to run XP Pro setups, they are compacted versions with everything removed that isn't needed, etc etc but damn does it load slow. I have the datastore on a separate drive just draggs. Server has 2.33 Duo, 2 gigs of ram, two sata drives, couple sites on the server but nothing major. I stuck Vmware Server on Windows, and the scenario is quit the opposite..... runs just fine and smooth. That just the nature here? What gives, because I was thinking about going into ESXi but seems Windows based virtual setups is much faster than linux (as the host)

Well I'd sure expect a Linux host to give better performance. VirtualBox on Ubuntu is faster for me than VB on XP.

Never used CentOS before, is it pure terminal or does it come with Gnome/KDE?

CentOS is basically RHEL without the support package.

Does your hardware support ESXi? Should just run it instead, if it does.

No, it doesn't. It'll run though. Running ESXi will be the better alternative to Vmware Server I know just been piddling with both Windows and Linux based outlets to see which is more cost effective via performance and license reasons.

:hsd: well that sucks... well Hyper-V i guess then? lol what is the hotness these days in virtual hosting. I had some Virtuozzo setups a few years ago was nothing but problems. Running the Vmware version when you stick the desktop link on, the lag between you and the console isn't bad unlike a remote desktop session thats rather crappy even on the lowest bitmap settings.
