I decided to try B12 in order to increase my appetite (I can't get myself to eat as much as I would like). I ordered from http://trimnutrition.com because they include the needles and cotton swabs which is pretty convenient. I've never given myself an injection before.

The directions say to give a subcutaneous injection, however, I was under the impression that b12 shots were supposed to be intramuscular. The package came with 25G 5/8" 1cc syringes...wouldn't a 29G 1cc insulin pin have been sufficient for a subcutaneous injection? Should I get some insulin pins and go SC or ignore the directions and try IM with the provided needles?

I think you can do either but I'd use slin pins if you're going the sub-q route

I'll go the IM route if it'll produce greater results. Is a 25G 5/8" going to work for IM? I'm a needle noob. :o

B12 injects are supposed to be great for energy also. Ray posted about it on another board, maybe he'll chime in.

Oh, another big question I had was whether you have to aspirate when injecting subcutaneously?

If you're willing to INJECT yourself with a chemical to get bigger you're damn willing to probably overdue it. That seems to happen a lot.

Pretty soon he'll be ragging at the family easter get to together and his uncles and dad will have to pin him down.

I'd just follow the directions dude. They're there for a reason.

My mom used to get B12 shots and she absolutely LOVED it. Said it made a world of a difference. Insurance doesn't cover much of it now though so she had to stop.

B12 injections are primary for individuals with B12 deficiency due to a B12 malabsorption. How does B12 stimulate appetite? I was only aware that B12 played a role in two reactions in the body: 1) helps convert homocysteine to methionine and 2)helps convert L-methylmalonyl CoA to Succinyl CoA. In a way B12 plays a small role in energy metabolism because of its role in producing Succinyl CoA (Succinyl CoA functions in the TCA to help produce energy equivalents). But to say that B12 is great for energy would be incorrect because Succinyl CoA can be make from other metabolic byproducts and it is not the only metabolite contributing to energy metabolism.

Just posting what people that have actually used it have said, not what some book told you.

Go sub q, a 1/2" 29 gauge pin is fine.

are you trying to increase appetite due to some condition or just for the sake of trying to gain muscle?

b12 isn't really all that effective orally, even sublingually, and you have to take massive doses. shots are far better if you really have an issue.

I've never heard of it being used for appetite problems, and I'd suggest some "butching the fuck up" before bothering with self-injections.
