I have 448 mb of ram, and it uses up to 65% of my physical memory. I tried disabling and stopping all unimportant services and processes, but it still takes up so much?

Does anyone know what I can do to decrease the memory usage?

Are you serious? Minimum is 1 GB of ram for Vista. Most recommend at least 2 gigs.

Is it still indexing your drive(s)?

    Turn off the indexing service.

Vista uses idle memory to load frequently used programs.

Vista runs ok on 1 gig of RAM, but I just upgraded to 2 gigs and it runs much better.

Am I getting this straight? You're running Vista on 448 MB of RAM? Or do you have more, and that's how much it is using, or is that how much is remaining?

Which BTW means that he's running a stick of 64 MB of ram in that rig. Now, tell me, at what point in the evolution of RAM did they stop selling 64 MB sticks? Or, you're using shared video memory and well - yeah - good luck with Vista with that.

On my computer, which my mother purchased, it said on the box that it was 512 mb (I didn't know that she would buy such a cheap computer), but on the computer it only read 448. 0_0
It contained Vista in it already.

Seriously?? I have to degrade?? Should I upgrade my memory?
    Are 1gb sticks cheap nowadays?

Cheap 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 is about $80 at newegg. Older DDR is still $130 however.
