OK, so if I get the free BETA copy of vista, will I need to buy an official copy when it is released or can I just get updates for the BETA copy?

when XP came out, I got the RC1 and RC2 from MS. Those copies expired after a couple of months.

with that said, here's a legal download for Pre-RC1

It does work on the MacBook at work, but I'm having a problem with the video drivers. :dunno:

I got it working, just have to let windows update run and install new drivers.

But now that I've played with it for a little while, I think it's pretty lame. I don't say this just because I love mac so much, I say this because it's like windows xp but with a lot more annoying things. like opening certain control panels or msc items like compmgmt.msc I keep getting a little pop up asking if I'm sure I want to do that. any way to turn that off? Aero is OK, the only thing I really like about it is how the widows "appear", other than that it's lame, even alt-tab. It seriously doesn't feel like much of a step over XP, and I really wonder what more they can do. The new start menu is horrible, I liked XP start menu, classic isn't bad but vista makes it look horrible, doens't blend with aero at all. Hope they get those little things fixed up before launch time.

OK, i'm done with it. I had it installed less than a day and got tired of it. Bootcamp partition is gone. I think I'll stick to parallels w/ XP
