I heard a rumor that iTunes compatibility was a false claim.

How do you tolerate iTunes taking over your media collection anyway? Royal PITA to sync, royal PITA if I want to use any other program in conjunction with iTunes.

Try going to your My Music folder and manually creating a folder called 'iTunes'

basically, i was using a second harddrive for all my music so i made the root of my second drive the location of the my music folder. so its location was essentially "F:\"..which itunes wouldnt recognize because there was no physical 'Music' folder. so i made a subdirectory on the drive F:/Music, made that the location of the my music folder and moved the files there

In my music collection, what's an easy way to use the Song Title, Artist, and Album from the file header to create new standardized filenames?

Does WinAmp allow you to sort/search by file header field?

Yes, WinAmp 5.whatever they're up to now can do all that. And the Pro version comes with Predixis...somethingorother...that can analyse all of your music and compile playlists that flow smoothly from one song to the next.

It's a very full-featured music player. It's not as easy to use as iTunes, because 99 times out of 100 the default settings won't be exactly what you want, but anybody with a little patience can get it to work just the way they like.

Your post had zilch to do with his problem, it was just an excuse for someone who has never even used Vista to spread some (false) anti-vista FUD and toss in a dig at iTunes. How in the fuck do you believe you contributed anything to this fucking thread at all. I only posted to counter your BS post with some actual facts.

I do use Vista, with an iPod and iTunes, and it works fucking fine.

Maybe if you post something (anything, anywhere) that actually turns out to be somewhat correct you can try to criticize me. Until then, STFU.

WinAMP was the shiznit back when ver2 was *new*. But WinAMP is uber-shitty now.

I use iTunes, as well. I like it.

Say what you want about version 3, but they fixed its problems when they upgraded it to version 5. And it's got a lot more features now. It's not just a player, it's a media manager.

Well, I agree that ver3 really really really tainted their reputation. But even after they fixed it, they just couldn't compete with other products like iTunes. If I didn't have an iPod, I may have considered going back to WinAMP. But iTunes does what I want it to do and I'm happy with it.

Yeah, I'm not a Pod person, so iTunes is for me only useful for buying singles and then converting them to mp3 format.

iTunes is by far the biggest pile of bloatware garbage I've used in Windows or OSX.
