I have a customer who 's computer I have not yet visited - however, she describes the problem as follows.

    1. She'll start up her computer
    2. Log on screen appears
    3. She enters her correct credentials
    4. Loading setting appears
    5. Saving settings appears
    6. Back to logon screen.

I had her try this in safe mode and the same thing happened?

What do you think it could be? has anyone have any advice?

What about other users? Or is it just her account?

It is a stand alone PC... not connected to a network other than her DSL net connection. She is logging on with a local account to a local PC.

So? You can still have multiple local users.

yeah I'd say if she's logging on as a "user" have her try logging on as local administrator and see what happens.

Or if that fails, go to a command prompt boot and add a new user by typing:

    net user <username> <password> /add
    net localgroup administrators <username> /add

that will make a fresh user in the administrators group that perhaps will be able to successfully log on the system.
