Apparently he had an open internship. I wonder who got that. That would be pretty amazing...

i mean his shit is amazing but if i had an unlimited budget and used 11ty helicopter pans i feel like i could get around 75% of the way there.
his seemingly unlimited resources are what draw most people to his shit. even his photography was popular because of his helicopter shit.
tell me when he makes a film without it being at least half from a helicopter.

i also like how he blames the "huge budgets" of surfing filmmakers as a reason they shoot good videos. gimme a break.

"One of the reasons that it’s taken me this long to get this short cut up on the blog is that we’ve been working on the two cuts simultaneously. My goal all along has been to NOT make yet “another surf film” as those have already been made and made very well by some incredibly talented filmmakers - and shot over a much longer period of time where budgets and time allow the filmmakers to wait for the perfect conditions / swell."

So what if he uses a helicopter? He was one of the first people to really use that and make it big. He found something that nobody else really capitalized on and made it work.

 at the hate for his unlimited budget.

mf'er got where he is because he tried something crazy and did it better than anyone else. His unlimited budget is no accident or freebie.

guy is fucking good. deserves what he gets. There isn't a single frame in that video that wouldn't make a badass image. not one.

his use of the helicopter to create aerial landscapes and portraits is something that is completely unique to him. No one else has done this with the same effect or perspective. He also pretty much perfected and made popular the modeling/perspective change thing that you see people ripping off a lot lately.

    some of his work:

(this is Sharpova WINNING the US open. how big do your balls have to be to attempt a shot like this with a moment like that!?!)
