Do I need a plug-in for this? I got an error saying:

"Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document"

When I dropped the file (.nef) into Photoshop. Please advise!

    1. Exit Photoshop CS.
    2. Move the existing Camera Raw plug-in from the Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS/Plug-Ins/File Formats folder to a folder outside the plug-ins folder.
    3. Copy or move the new Camera Raw plug-in from your download folder to the Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS/Plug-Ins/File Formats folder.

could not complete your request because this version of photoshop does not supply the services required by this plug-in module.

Q: I have Photoshop 7, with Adobe Camera Raw 1; will there be an update to support the new cameras? What about Photoshop CS and Camera Raw 2.4?

A: Only the current version of Photoshop will receive ACR updates.
Note that when a new DNG converter is released, Camera Raw 2.4 in Photoshop CS will be able to open the DNG files converted from the raw files formats supported.

What camera do you have? I recall reading somwhere that the RAW data from either Canon or Nikon was cockblocking Adobe. You had to buy the plug-in to read their RAW files.
