I want to cut parts of some videos off. I downloaded about 20 programs from download.com and they all sucked and were full of bugs. I found one called ultra video splitter that had the settings I was looking for, you'd open a video file, set it to "original" so that everything (resolution, codec, sound, quality etc) was the same as the original video and it would only take a few seconds to make the new file with the selected parts cut off. The problem was this program was full of bugs and didn't work so the videos didn't play when I did it. Is there anything else that easily splits videos that actually works?

Just be sure under the Video menu to select Direct Stream. It should be that way under the Audio menu by default.

Have you tried DivX? One of my gaming friends used to always use that along with virtual dub.

I use Sony vegas, might be overkill for this though. Adobes premier is good too
