Seems like a waste of a missile but cool footage.

Russia shot down our spy plane: Georgia

Officials in Georgia claim the unmanned aircraft shot down over the breakaway republic of Abkhazia this weekend was destroyed by a Russian fighter jet. Moscow denies the accusation, which was reported by the Reuters news agency.
Abkhazian authorities say they shot down the plane, which was flying over the Gali Disctrict on Sunday. Up until now Georgia has denied involvement, claiming they hadn’t sent a plane to the area.

Abkhazia says the plane violated its airspace, although Georgia regards the whole region as its sovereign territory.

In a phone interview with RT, Abkhazia’s presidential envoy to the area, Ruslan Kishmariya, said it was not the first time spy planes have violated the republic's air space.

“Recently there was a case when a Georgian air vehicle was shot down. However, reconnaissance flights didn't stop after that,” Kishmariya said.

The incident comes amidst Georgian claims that the Abkhazian authorities have raised tension by sending additional armed forces to the Gali district. Counter claims from the Abkhazian side say Georgia is increasing its military presence around the contested Kodori Gorge.

First we get a video of a beehive round from a tank, now we get a missile intercept

:nono: It's from the SU-27 family. Notice the missile comes off of a wingtip rail. Compare the image w/ the CGI above.

Edit: unfortunately the resolution of the video is too low to see if there's a wanker on it. But I'm pretty sure.

^--- You could be right but the reporter in the video identified it as a MiG 29, either or

I think it is a fulcrum, the SU-27 has those forward winglets similar to the Eurofighter Typhoon (bur a little more toward the center)

It looks like a Mig-29 at first, but I'm going with Jaime, looks like a SU family fighter based on the wingtip launch, which AFAIK the -29 family doesn't do.
