I'm the one in the tank top. A bunch of guys from different academies a little meet up on sunday at someones house. I kept getting tooled though. It was kind of depressing because I'm supposed to be close to my purple, and all these blue belts kept tapping me right and left. I'm just hoping it was a bad day. On the bright side.. it wasnt like I was getting dominated. They just kept capitalizing on all my mistakes.

Not bad, your X guard is lookin good.

Your moving around on top was good, nice passing etc..

I'm gonna tell you what was told to me long ago, never accept bottom, don't hop guard. I know in grappling you can win there and be in minimal danger but no matter what when on top you can score moure points.

You pass guard well, use it to your advantage.

and don't let your foot hang have it posted on his hips.

small mistake that got capitalized on.

    no worries.

I've been tryin to work on an X guard but I always fear it will make for an easy pass for my opponent.

after watching the vid I agree man your guard pass looked very slick. do you always just sit back to guard? It looked like you could have had dominant position in the first few moments but you just decided to work that crazy guard I have no idea how to use :hs:

anyway you would flatten me out easy and have me tappin quick so you don't have to listen to my meager opinion

yeah i prefer to pull guard and then sweep typically.. i guess i got in that habit because its annoying just trying to push someone over from the knees. so in training i usually just try to pull guard and sweep.. i think its good practice for tournaments too.

Do you usually practice from the knees in class?

if you wanna grab guard and go to sweep you need to be faster about it. there are many competitions that will take a -1 for your but sitting but if you drop and sweep your are less likely to lose the point.

also if you settle people expect the sweep. just hit the shit.

yes. like 95% of jiu jitsu schools do. theres not usually enough room for everyone to go standing at once.

We train from our knees too.... As chechen said, theres just not enough room without everyone crashing into each other and causing injuries..
