I'm fishing for an average flat rate to charge a client for shooting a series of 30-second training videos for their website. Simple lighting, one...maybe two cameras, one or two locations. Nothing major. Companies like TurnHere are doing 60-90 second commercials paying $250 to the filmmaker. That feels like too much for what this is, but that's why I'm asking here first.

    Thoughts?

How long is it going to take you to do it? You'll spend a day shooting for $250? Want a job? :mamoru:

    Who's writing the script?
    How many shots?
    What about music?
    Rights??
    Any text or other graphics?
    Duplication and deliverables?
Do they want the video in WMV or other formats?
    What about audio?
    On camera talent or vo?
    Teleprompter?
    Dolly or jib shots?
    Location scouting ahead of time?
How much time needed for pre-production?

The list goes on and on.

My company charges about $3000-$10000 for a couple of 30 second videos, depending on the complexity.

That's what I need to iron out. I'm already thinking $4000-$5000 for this.
    What I know:

    2 cameras - mine
minor lighting (sun gun, sunlight, reflector) - mine
    1 location
    talent on set, rehearsed.
    stock music - mine
    Boom mic - mine
    No dolly/jib shots

As far as the rest, i'm not sure. So, I'm talking to the guy tomorrow to iron out details.

    thanks for the responses.

It would have been 250 per video, that's what TurnHere paid me, and that's why I'm doing research because it was a lowball, now I know. I'm giving them no more than 1 hour shoot time per video.
