My computer is the Sony Vaio PCV-RS410 Desktop
    http://www.epinions.com/pr-Sony_VAIO_Digital_Studio_PCV-RS410_PC_Desktop/display_~full_specs

2.66ghz, P4, upgraded to 760 ram. also an extra 40 gb harddrive. New Audigy 2ZS sound card.

I've been wanting a new video card but just lagged on it. Now w/ FEAR installed I figure might as well, since I get the black screen! :squint:

My sound card was PCI but my video card is AGP? anyways almost ordered the wrong card. So recommend me a new card, preferrably under 150. But if its absolutely worth it to go upwards of 200 then so be it!!!

For $250, the Gigabyte X800XL AGP is a stellar deal. I run one myself, the older model with the stock ATi reference cooler and adore it. The new one has much better cooling, however. Not really needed since X800XL's make next to nothing anyway.

If $250 is too much, a GeForce 6600GT is the next best option. They clock in at c. $130.

However, I would personally get the X80)XL no matter what - it kicks fucking ass. And a CPU upgrade would help a lot, as well :big grin:!

Probably the 6800gt. Check out www.hardocp.com for video card reviews.

a 2.6 P4? Pick up a cheap 9600/9700/9800pro on ebay or something, don't waste money on a video card that your processor is going to bottleneck anyway.

The X800XL. CrossFire is looking to be the better technology, it definitely has more potential than SLi.

But even if you are using an AGP slot I'd recommend the X800XL, because for most games it is the faster card, just not OpenGL ones.
