I heard that when the 8 series first came out there were a ton of bugs and problems? is that normal with a new video card release?

I think the 8 just had problems when they came out because the drivers for Vista DX10 werent tested and perfect when they were released

The only issue with the 8 series is how shitty the low-end cards are.
8600s and below are garbage. The difference between those and the 8800s is huge.

If you're so eager to upgrade, get the EVGA 8800GT and when the 9 series come out, do the step-up program.

Somebody recently posted that the 9 series wouldn't be out until January.

And the prices on the 8 series won't just drop instantly like you see on cpu's lately

when the new lines comes out.

Long story short, good prices on the 8 series might take a while to get here.

I'd just go with a EVGA 8800GT and step-up in January or whenever the 9 series come out. Nothing to lose. You just pay the price difference of the 8800GT and the 9 series card.

Well the 9 series is probably a good bit faster than the 8 series, so it will come down to your budget.

You can assume that the faster cards in the line will not be cheap.
