What is the difference between these cards:
    Card a) http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-131-247&depa=0
    or
    Card b)
    http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-131-213&depa=0

and there was a third card by saphire or something that was an ATI Radeon 9800PRO that was on newegg, but the link seems to be dead.

Which card would be the best to run doom 3 on a Dell 8400 with 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 400MHz (2x512M), XP pro, and a Pentium® 4 Processor 530 with HT Technology (3GHz, 800 FSB). Building is NOT an option at this point. Money for the card is IS an issue.

FWIW, nVidia cards play Doom3 a heck of a lot better. A 128MB GeForce 6800 (around $300 retail) will play doom3 10x better than a 256MB ATI X800Pro for around $430... And that's with the ATI benchmarking signifigantly higher... Doom3 was simply optimized for nVidia cards.

HalfLife 2, however, will be optimized for ATI, supposedly.

In PCI-E, you should look at the ATI X600. It's about on-par with the 9800, but in a PCI-Express form-factor.

Im looking for something that isn't expensive and that will run doom 3 at a high level and that will work with a dell.

yes, the X600 will work in your dell if it's PCI-X.
