Im thinking of upgrading my graphics card from a Radeon 9000 Pro to a Sapphire 9600XT. (Especially after 3dMark 03 raped my system) However my motherboard, an ASUS AS7333, is fairly ancient and only supports a maximum AGP bus of 4x.

So I have a couple questions...

    1. Will the Sapphire with a 8x AGP work properly with my somewhat elderly motherboard?

    2. Is there that big of a difference in performance between running in 4x and 8x mode if it will work?

    3. It the upgrade in video cards worth it?

    My current specs:
    ASUS A7S333 Motherboard
    AMD Athlon XP 2100+
    Radeon 9000 Pro 128MB
    Sound Blaster Live 5.1
    512 PC2700 DDR ram
    Windows XP Home

    1. I believe you can change the AGP level to run at 4...i know with my 8x capable motherboard and 8x card i can
    2. None at all....todays cards dont even come close to maxing out the 4x bus
    3. If you game, absolutely, HUGE difference
